Case Study
Upgrade an Entire IT Infrastructure for an Established Components Manufacturer
Client
Cougar Components (now Teledyne Cougar) is an established designer and manufacturer of microwave components for space, military and commercial applications. Their products have a record of proven quality and reliability in difficult applications to such demanding customers as Hughes Space and Communications, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Lockheed Sanders, Hewlett Packard, and TRW. In business since 1986, Cougar successfully achieved certification to both MIL-PRF-38534 and ISO 9001 in 1998.
Challenge
Cougar controller Tim McQuade asked Moyo Group to upgrade their entire IT infrastructure and execute the plan in a single event over a weekend. This included upgrading the network, email system, and ERP platform—a high-risk approach for such sweeping changes to a company’s IT infrastructure. For an established company with 80 users working under tight deadlines, this required flawless planning and execution to prevent downtime for the numerous user groups and applications.
Solution
The Moyo Group team worked with key process owners to develop a comprehensive plan for all the components to be modified, data to be migrated and processes that must be tested prior to completion. Coordination with numerous vendors was required. The final project plan included dependencies, resources and a well-orchestrated execution script.
Results
“The Moyo Group team delivered as promised: on time, on budget, with high user satisfaction. We were up and running on Monday morning, and Moyo Group consultants were standing by on Monday morning to insure that any issues were immediately resolved. This high-risk project could not have gone more smoothly,” said McQade. His relationship with the Moyo Group team has now spanned over 12 years.
